Soap Making Class 3: Scent Blending and Layering

Have you completed class #1: ‘Soaping Basics’ and class #2: ‘Coloring & Swiring’ and are ready for a new challenge? 

Class #3: ‘Scent Blending and Layering’ is our newest class. We will discuss blending of scents using essential oils and fragrance oils. We will also discuss a new technique: layering. After discussion: we will create a 3 pound loaf using all the techniques you have learned with us so far! Come learn and DO! 

Includes all equipment and materials to make a 40 ounce loaf of soap! 

What will be taught: 

Classroom: 

  1. Review first two classes. 
  2. Scent blending using essential oils &/or fragrance oils
  3. Discuss layering technique 

Hands-On: 

  1. We will make a soap from scratch as we did in Soaping Basics class!
  2. Create your own blend of essential oils & / or fragrance oils. 
  3. Using the layering technique to create your soap

What to bring / wear: 

  1. Your soap mold from previous class: or you may purchase one. 
  2. Eye protection is a MUST! We can not allow you to participate without eye protection. We will have safety glasses if you do not have. 
  3. Bring along a long sleeve shirt to make soap in. Again: you cannot participate without a long sleeve shirt. 
  4. Long hair must be tied back
  5. Bring two bath size towels to insulate soap. 
  6. Class will be about 3 hours long. You may bring a drink and snack. 

PLEASE NOTE: Our Basics Soap Making Workshop AND Class #2: Introduction to coloring and swirling techniques is a prerequisite to attending this class. 

Your teacher, Tamela, has over 20 years experience making soap and formulating skin care products. Along with being a Registered Aromatherapist, she has a love of teaching others!

Please note: Due to the manufacturing process of real soap, participants must be 18 years or older. (or have discussed with Tamela if younger).
